What the tape shows
🎥 Film Summary:Alijah Huzzie might be the most versatile defensive back in the 2025 NFL Draft. After watching him at the Shrine Bowl working the nickel, the assumption was that he was a pure slot guy — but film against NC State and Duke tells a deeper story. Huzzie played almost exclusively outside corner in those matchups and held his own with no noticeable drop-off. In fact, his press-man ability and short-area footwork might be the best in the entire class. Huzzie thrives in mirror matchups. His lateral movement is elite — sudden, sharp, and clean — allowing him to stay glued to receivers through release and stem. He’s as sticky as they come, playing with patience at the line and confidence downfield. Despite not being the biggest corner, he’s a reliable tackler who drives through contact and takes smart angles to the ball. He’s shown the ability to lock down slants even from outside leverage, using refined technique and an excellent sense of timing. The few reps in off-coverage showed some room to clean up — at times, he opens too early and overcommits to leverage, creating space for route breaks. But even then, he recovers well and rarely gets beat clean. What truly separates Huzzie is his positional flexibility. He can play outside, nickel, or even rotate back as a safety — and he’s shown he can start at any of those spots. His game is built on technique, toughness, and football IQ. He’s a plug-and-play DB with a mature skill set and the mindset to match.
