What the tape shows
Arch Manning is a mobile pocket passer who combines athletic ability with a decent intermediate passing skill set. While capable of creating explosive plays with his legs, his game is most effective when operating from the pocket and attacking defenses through rhythm and timing. Manning does better with intermediate throws and shows the athleticism to extend plays when needed. As he continues to develop, the biggest of areas of improvement would be progression speed, anticipation, and check down utilization will help maximize his effectiveness. Additionally, an offensive structure that emphasizes rhythm passing and intermediate concepts can play to his strengths. The offense needs to get away from having such a deep shot heavy concept. With continued development and the right offensive support, Manning can improve his production at the quarterback position capable of impacting the game both as a passer and an opportunistic runner. Current level of play doesn’t match NFL Draft projections, this year will be critical.
