What the tape shows

Bell combines that acceleration with the frame and play strength to be a legitimate boundary receiver at the NFL level — not just a slot body squeezed into a smaller man's role. He is dangerous after the catch because his combination of size and speed makes him extremely difficult to bring down in the open field; he can run through arm tackles or simply outpace pursuit angles. His catch radius is genuine, he shows some route savvy in bending his stem to set up defensive backs before breaking away, and he has the constitution to catch the ball through contact across the middle of the field without flinching. His release package from the line of scrimmage is laterally stiff — physical corners who can get hands on him within the first five yards and redirect his release disrupt his timing significantly. He is not a quick-twitch route separator on short routes against disciplined zone defenders; his threat comes from his second gear rather than his first step, which means defenses with enough speed to run with him for the first three yards can take him out of rhythm.
