Whittington's most NFL-ready quality is how he operates at the line of scrimmage. He does not attack the hole — he waits for it, hides behind his blockers with a compact stance, and triggers through the crease at precisely the right moment. He was productive at Western Kentucky in a more traditional gap scheme (619 yards, 6.1 YPC) and equally productive in Oregon's zone-heavy system across three seasons.
