What the tape shows
The tape, when Pauling is healthy and operating in a rhythm, shows a receiver who wins the way undersized slot receivers have to win — through refined route running, anticipation, and the courage to work across the middle in traffic without flinching. His best Wisconsin tape from 2022 and 2023 is more revealing than his Notre Dame season: he led all Big Ten slot receivers in yards in 2022 with 837 yards and was the conference leader in first-down receptions with 27. He has a quick release, tight feet through his stem, and shows the competitive toughness to hold on through contact.
